LIGHTNING DAMAGE INVESTIGATION
Just like its very occurrence, the scope and damage resulting from lightning can be wildly unpredictable.
That means that when your property, facility, or equipment is involved in a lightning strike, it’s paramount that a thorough investigation takes place to identify any resulting damage.
Given that more and more businesses are almost totally dependent on their electronic equipment for operation and efficiency, it is of little surprise that lightning damage can cause critical harm that goes beyond simple structural damage.
Typically there are two categories of damage in the occurrence of a lightning strike or strikes.
Firstly, and most commonly, lightning will enter a property through wires or pipes, such as communication wires, or from a utility pole. While this causes the least harm, it is also the most common form of lightning damage. The scope of the damage here can be very hard to diagnose, as it can travel to places not seen by the naked eye.
Less common but more damaging, is when a property is directly struck by lightning. This will cause significant damage to the property in general, including electrical and non-electrical items. In a worst case scenario it can also cause critical structural damage, and even large scale fire.
